Exceptional lacquer and gilt iron secretary cabinet by Roger and Robert Thibier, Paris.
Executed in the 1960’s as a custom commission, this exceptional piece features 2 orange lacquered cabinets housed in a gilt iron metal structure with 2 glass shelves. The upper cabinet functions as a secretary desk with one large fold down door with an inset blue leather writing surface. The interior is beautifully outfitted with an open center area that is flanked by 2 smaller sections, each with locking doors and shelf. A row of organizational drawers is situated below. All interior doors and drawers have gilt detailing and the original gilt iron hardware. The lower cabinet has 2 locking doors and a fully lacquered interior with one adjustable shelf concealed within.
All keys are present as well as an interior light that will need to be tested.
Condition: Very good, lacquer has some cracks and one small chip.
